Drexel University, Department of Nutrition Sciences
I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition Sciences, and a research faculty member of the Center for Family Intervention: Research to Practice, both within Drexel University’s College of Nursing and Health Professions. As a Community Nutrition Scientist, my research activities focus on the development of nutrition and wellness interventions to prevent cancer and improve healthy cancer survivorship, as well as caregiver health. I have served as a Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on several studies that explore the ways in which nutrition, wellness, and healing behaviors promote healthy cancer survivorship and caregiver health. My research also focuses on designing better nutrition programs by improving our understanding of how people’s interaction with their environment affects their nutritional choices. I use a variety of assessment techniques, collaborate across disciplines and focus on community-based approaches to inform the development of supportive nutrition intervention programs. Using quantitative and qualitative methods, my research employs a formative approach to intervention development—through identifying beliefs, behaviors, challenges and needs of the individuals and families I work with.
