I am a fellowship-trained, board-certified, behavioral neurologist with additional advanced training in clinical research methods and biostatistics. My research program uses a combination of traditional epidemiological and novel data-driven methods to understand the neurobehavioral impact of traumatic brain injury (TBI) on the aging civilian and veteran populations – including older adults with incident “geriatric” TBI and older adults with a history of earlier-life TBI. The goals of this work are two-fold: (1) to discover modifiable predictors, biomarkers, and mechanisms of post-TBI neurodegenerative disease to inform targeted treatment and prevention strategies, and (2) to improve prognostic models, treatment, and rehabilitation for older adults with TBI.
