Ann Van de Winckel, PhD, MSPT, PT is Director of the "Brain Body Mind Lab" and Assistant Professor in the Division of Physical Therapy and Division of Rehabilitation Science, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Medical School at the University of Minnesota. Her research agenda includes (1) establishing the importance of body awareness in motor recovery post-stroke and understanding the neural mechanisms of neuroplasticity and sensorimotor recovery of the upper limb after stroke through brain imaging (2) investigating brain mechanisms of mind and body approaches to optimize self-management, quality of life and recovery in people with chronic impairments and chronic pain, and (3) developing and performing statistical evaluations (e.g., Rasch analysis) on clincal outcome measures, including body awareness and motor function.
