Dr. Denise Lester is Board-Certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management and is an Assistant Professor of the Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Department of Anesthesiology. She obtained her M.D. degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry - New Jersey Medical School, and completed her Anesthesioolgy residency and Pain Management training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Dr. Lester has held academic and clinical interventional pain physician positions for the past 24 years. She has served as teaching faculty for the Virginia Commonwealth University Pain Fellowship since 1998. Dr. Lester has been the Principal Investigator of clinical trials for peripheral nerve stimulation and is the Director of Peripheral Nerve Stimulation for fhe Central Virginia VA Health Services Center. She has extensive experience in the use of central and peripheral neuromodulation for peri-operative, chronic and cancer pain.
