Amy Huckstep graduated with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Illinois of Chicago in 2012. After working inpatient acute rehab for three years in Joliet, she took a job at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in Homewood, IL. She has worked there for five years in the neuro day rehab setting and has a specific interest working with patients after stroke. She has spent a significant amount of time in this setting researching the effect of high intensity therapy in a group setting. She is now participating in research for the feasibility of using tDCS in the clinical setting. Additionally, she has worked closely with Northwestern University Engineering students to develop and patent the "Alligator Tail which is a wheelchair catch device to improve safety and efficacy of training patients in wheelie skills after spinal cord injury.
