Vanessa is a speech-language pathologist and advanced fellow in geriatrics at the Durham VA Medical Center. Her expertise lies in cognitive-communication interventions for person with dementia and their caregivers. Vanessa's overarching research goal is to contribute to practice-based evidence (i.e., modifying or improving evidence-based interventions to better fit the heterogeneity of care environments). Currently, her research examines supportive strategies for helping persons with dementia participate in nursing home preference assessments.
