Dr. Kumar received his Bachelor degree in Physical Therapy from Nagpur University, Masters in Public Health (epidemiology), and Ph.D. in Population Health from the University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship in Health Services Research at Brown University School of Public Health. Dr. Kumar has worked as a physical therapist primarily in the area of community-based rehabilitation and geriatric care. Dr. Kumar is a health services researcher who studies health care disparities in patients with multimorbidities, with particular emphasis on patient functional status, socioeconomic status, and provider level factors on patients’ health outcome. His research focusses on evaluating different risk adjustment models to predict post-acute outcomes: functional status, hospital readmission, and community discharge.
