Denise Fyffe, PhD. Dr. Fyffe is a Senior Research Scientist in the Center for Spinal Cord Injury/Outcomes & Assessment Research at the Kessler Foundation. Using mixed methods, her research examines the relationship between social determinants of health, such as demographic, socioeconomic, cultural and clinical factors, on disparities in functional outcomes among diverse groups living with disabilities. She is Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on multiple studies funded by Department of Defense, Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program, Spinal Cord Injury Research Program (SCIRP). These multi-phased projects utilize community-based participatory research approach to investigate disability compensation, employment barriers and delivery of rehabilitative care of Veterans living with spinal cord injury. Dr. Fyffe is Co-Investigator in the Northern New Jersey Spinal Cord Injury System (PIs: Dyson-Hudson & Kirshblum) and collaborates on the development of a quality of life (QOL) measure using for use in spinal cord injury (SCI) and innovative interventions to improve outcomes for persons with SCI using the Spinal Cord Injury Model Systems (SCIMS).
