Dr. Mark Lyle is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Physical Therapy at Emory University and Department of Orthopaedics. Dr. Lyle received his physical therapy degree from Simmons College and subsequently worked in an outpatient clinic for 4 years treating persons with musculoskeletal injuries. He then pursued a PhD in Biokinesiology from the University of Southern California examining factors that contribute to anterior cruciate ligament injuries in young athletes. He received a NRSA F32 Postdoctoral Fellowship to study the functional role of proprioceptive feedback in the cat with Richard Nichols at Georgia Institute of Technology. Current work supported by a K01 aims to adapt methods used to study intermuscular Golgi tendon organ feedback in the cat to humans with and without neurological injuries. The overall goal of his research is to enhance mobility and improve quality of life for patients with locomotor impairments, and to identify modifiable factors that will enable effective strategies to prevent injury.
