My background in academics, clinical work, and business provides me a 360-degree perspective on what professionals are looking for in neurobehavioral testing and how these tests can be developed to best suit their needs. In addition to test development and dissemination, I have experience and interest in combining innovative technologies to assist in neurological/psychiatric diagnosis and treatment. My first foray into this arena was as the PI on an American Cancer Society grant. I used neuroimaging (fMRI and DTI) combined with computerized cognitive assessment to better understand the effects of chemo-brain. Later in my career, while working at a human factors engineering company, I helped develop an algorithm and companion app to detect stress as an adjunct to cognitive-behavioral therapy for anxiety disorders. During my tenure at this frim, I also participated in developing a mixed-reality (combination of virtual reality and the environment) therapy protocol to assist in the rehabilitation of stroke patients. In my current role as the NIH Toolbox Product Manager and Research Associate Professor at Northwestern University, I direct the product roadmap, marketing efforts and strategic direction for the NIH Toolbox. As part of my efforts I conduct continuous analysis of target audience (researchers, clinicians and other assessment professionals) and their use of our stand-alone, iPad versions of the NIH Toolbox. I also oversee training and customer service for the NIH Toolbox.
