Cheryl Appleberry is the Clinic Coordinator for Shepherd Center’s Complex Concussion Clinic, where she joined the staff in July 2016. As clinic coordinator, she identifies and evaluates patients that have sustained a concussion. She assists with the management of patients, performing clinical tasks, including cognitive and vestibular testing and provides evidence-based education for patient care. She coordinates and communicates with providers to assist with the interdisciplinary management of the patient. Cheryl has more than 25 years of patient care, academics, administrative and professional experience in Atlanta.
Before joining Shepherd Center, Cheryl was a faculty member at Georgia State University, teaching and serving as the coordinator of the Graduate Sports Medicine Program. Cheryl also worked for many years on the sidelines of sports events as an athletic trainer at the high school, college and professional levels.
Cheryl, a native of northwest Arkansas, holds a Master of Science degree in sports medicine from Georgia State University. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training and education from Missouri State University, where she also played softball.
In conjunction with serving as Clinic Coordinator at Shepherd Center, Cheryl has presented at the Georgia Athletic Trainer Association Annual Symposium and many other local professional events. She served as a volunteer athletic trainer for the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta.
Cheryl lives in Acworth, Georgia, and enjoys hiking, photography and playing with her dogs. She is passionate about educating the public and promoting the awareness of traumatic brain injury. Her enthusiasm is evident in all she does to help provide the best patient care.
