mHealth applications (apps) are emerging as a promising means to self-management of chronic symptoms associated with stroke. Though there is wide availability of apps on various app stores, such as the Google Play or Apple App Stores, these apps are not frequently supported in the literature as effective or useful for individuals with stroke. We will compare and discuss the apps that are available to those that are supported in the evidence to guide professionals to help individuals with stroke confidently select client-centered apps.
Discuss future research and development directions for mHealth apps to facilitate improved outcomes in people living with the effects of stroke.
Identify at least one mHealth application informed by current literature to embed within treatment for a client with stroke.
Describe at least one gap in the current literature which limits our knowledge-base about mHealth app efficacy with individuals with stroke.
