Abbreviated Description: The purpose of this symposia is to outline the diagnosis, neuroanatomy and rehabilitative treatment of cerebellar strokes. There will be three core components. The first will focus on identifying the presenting symptoms, pitfalls for misdiagnosis, and clinical exam maneuvers to aid in accurate diagnosis of cerebellar stroke. The second and third components will evaluate upper and lower limb ataxia through an occupational and physical therapy perspective. The main component will be selection of specific interventions for individuals with ataxia post-stroke. All components will highlight the need for additional research to guide evidence-based evaluation and practice.

Learning Objectives:

• Identify the presenting symptoms, pitfalls for misdiagnosis, and clinical exam maneuvers to aid in accurate diagnosis of cerebellar stroke.
• Evaluate upper limb ataxia post-stroke using objective terms and measures, as well as implement various interventions to foster daily ADL and IADL independence.
• Evaluate lower limb ataxia post-stroke using objective terms/measures, as well as implement various interventions to improve quality of gait and independence in ambulation.
