I am a developmental psychologist and currently serve as a Distinguished Research Scholar of Human Development at the Fralin Bioemdical Research Institute in Roanoke, a truly exciting multidisciplinary research institute at Virginia Tech, where I also hold professorships in Psychiatry, Psychology, Neuroscience, and Human Development. Since the early 1970s, I have had the privilege and challenge of working with others as we develop and test innovative treatment interventions to promote the functional well-being and engagement levels of children and adults with a wide array of developmental risk conditions and diagnosed developemtnal disabiltiies. The creation of a new National Pediatric Rehabiliation Resource Center funded by NIH is a dream come true - so we can expand the number of rigorous clinical trials that will yeild much-neeeded evidence to inform the treatment deicsions that clinicians, parents, and children themselves make.
