Julie Silver Seidle is a PhD Candidate and Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Colorado State University (CSU). Ms. Silver Seidle completed her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2006 from CSU and went on to practice in a variety of settings. She realized her passion for community-based practice at Elderhaus & Mindset Adult Day Programs where she built the Occupational Therapy Department and currently serves as the Director of Therapy & Integrated Services. Ms. Silver Seidle returned to the CSU Occupational Therapy Department in 2015 to pursue her PhD in Occupation and Rehabilitation Science. In addition to teaching in the department, she has served as a graduate research assistant addressing issues related to farmer stress and mental health as well as support services for caregivers of individuals with traumatic brain injury. Her dissertation examines the experience of spousal caregivers of individuals with dementia and the role of occupation in resilience and identity during the bereavement phase of the caregiver journey. She currently works with the Center for Community Partnerships where she developed a community-engaged research team to address issues around aging in Northern Colorado. Following graduation, Ms. Silver Seidle plans on continuing her work and research with the Center for Community Partnerships in the areas of aging, community resilience, caregiving, and translational community-engaged research approaches to aging in communities of choice.
