Dr. Ron Hirschberg is a physician who specializes in neurological and trauma functional recovery, assistant professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) at Harvard Medical School, and Director of the PM&R Consultation Service at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Hirschberg founded the division of Arts and Neuroscience at American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine in 2016, demonstrating music-medicine scientific collaborations with critically acclaimed artists such as Ben Folds and Beth Nielsen Chapman. He is a lifelong musician and has written and produced three albums, including the 2016 Acadia National Park documentary, Second Century Stewardship. In 2016-2017, Dr. Hirschberg began working at Home Base Program for Veterans and Families as a consultant to work with post-9/11 veterans with traumatic brain injury. His research work at Home Base includes collaborative songwriting intervention (CSI) along with Dr. Louisa Sylvia and the Nashville based organization Songwriting With: Soldiers. He is also co-host of the podcast Above The Basement, that discusses music as it relates to social justice, health and wellness, education and how music is a fundamental language.
