Pediatric Neuropsychologist
Nationwide Children's Hospital
Columbus, Ohio
I am a board certified pediatric neuropsychologist in the Department of Psychology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University. I have over 9 years of experience working on inpatient rehabilitation units and am currently the attending neuropsychologist on the rehabilitation unit at NCH. I have extensive clinical experience in examining the recovery and clinical outcomes associated with pediatric illnesses and brain injury. Working on inpatient rehabilitation units, specifically, has given me experience assessing emotional/behavioral functioning, functional status, and acute cognitive recovery in children and adolescents. I also have the unique opportunity to work with patients throughout their recovery when they return for outpatient testing at various time-points post-injury. My current clinical work includes inpatient and outpatient neuropsychological assessment of children and adolescents with a range of medical conditions, including traumatic and acquired brain injuries, illness/infections, and neurodevelopmental conditions. I am also heavily involved in our training program and provide supervision with trainees of various levels, including pre-doctoral interns and post-doctoral fellows in psychology and neuropsychology. I also currently serve as the Associate Track Director for the Neuropsychology Internship. My work on the inpatient rehabilitation unit also allows me to work closely with medical interns and fellows in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as Neurology. Dr. Jennifer Lundine and I are colleagues on the Rehabilitation Unit and we work closely together on research projects. I have experience in clinical research examining the outcomes of acquired brain insults in children and related topics, with 8 publications in peer-reviewed journals and multiple national and international research presentations. I currently disseminate my research under my married name, Koterba, but most of my work is under my maiden name, Hajek. My current research involves examining and improving the outcomes following pediatric traumatic brain injury, with a specific interest in injured children admitted to inpatient rehabilitation and acute care units. These clinical, research, and education/training experiences, pursued interests, and established collaborations have refined my team coordination, project management, and assessment development skills and established my competency to serve as a collaborator on this grant.
