Dr. Dickson was one of the chief residents in the Internal Medicine residency program in Harlem Hospital NY and became board certified in Internal Medicine in 2000. From that time he worked in a clinic and also as a hospitalist for a number of years in Las Vegas. Then he was hired as a contractor for the Air Force in North Las Vegas where for 4 years he was exposed to techniques to improve his abilities as a patient advocate. In 2012 he moved to Arizona to take up an appointment as Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine at the Midwestern University in Phoenix AZ. There his duties included teaching and supervising residents, as well as giving lectures on various topics. In 2014 he was elected to Chair of the Department of Medicine at the Verde Valley Hospital in Cottonwood Az. In that capacity he moderated several meetings involving faculty, evaluated and signed off on reappointments of faculty, and gave lectures on various disease states to the residents and faculty. Dr. Dickson moved to Texas to join the faculty at MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2016 and has been involved in teaching residents and giving them lectures on topics of interest. In 2018 he received the Baylor House staff Teaching Award for Best Attending from the Baylor College of Medicine Residency Program. He holds the position of Director of Hospitalist Education in the General Internal medicine department and his duties involve coordinating the efforts of clerkship directors for different medical schools as well as the Baylor College of Medicine and Texas A&M residents who rotate through our department. His interests including accurate documentation in the notes of providers, communication between providers, and hypertension. He is the inpatient medical director for the General Internal medicine service at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
