Dr Runge got 1980 his doctor degree at the Ruhr-University Bochum and University Essen in germany. In 1995 he received the qualification as specialist for geriatrics and one year later the qualification as specialist for rehabilitation medicine. He worked from 1991-2014 as Medical Director of the Aerpah-Clinic Esslingen / Germany. During his clinical and research work his special interest are:
• Geriatric and locomotor assessment,
• diagnostic and therapeutic management of osteoporosis by Dual X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA) and peripheral Quantitative Computed Tomography (pQCT)
• sarcopenia, frailty, muscle-bone-interactions, development of standardized exercise programs, electronic measurement of movements by mechanography, side-alternating mechano-stimulation
Besides his clinical work, he was from1998 – 2007 Chairman of the the Task Force for Geriatric Rehabilitation Baden-Württemberg (Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft der Geriatrischen Rehabilitationskliniken). Principal Investigator in RCTs and publications about osteoporosis, sarcopenia, mechanography, locomotor assessment, vibrations therapy, fall risk, Alfacalcidol.
Co-Investigator of Berlin Bedrest II Study (Principal Investigator Prof. Dr. D. Felsenberg).
Development and co-development of assessment tools for locomotion and fall risk.
Author and co-author of geriatric textbooks and textbook chapters, articles in review journals.
Lectures on international congresses in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, China (Shanghai, Chengdu, Beijing, Hongkong, Nanking), Russia, Slovakia, USA, Egypt, Israel, Serbia, Great Britain, Turkey.
