Functional Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy: Uses in Rehabilitation Research (848931)

The present symposium updates the rehabilitation community on the utility of functional magnetic resonance spectroscopy (fMRS). fMRS is a technique that offer rehabilitation scientists the ability to measure changes in neurometabolites during functional tasks and is beying employed with increasing frequency, particularly for visual and motor rehabilitation. This presentation will offer an introduction to rehabilitation scientists unfamiliar with the information provided by fMRS and MRS in general. We will cover specific neurometabolites and the potential information gained by understanding the dynamic range associated with changes in their concentration during tasks. In addition, we will discuss technological updates and future directions while covering limitations associated with the use of spectroscopy in rehabilitation science.
