This symposium will discuss how the Rehabilitation Treatment Specification System (RTSS) can improve the design, conduct, reporting, and clinical translation of rehabilitation research. We will discuss how the underlying principles and treatment specification rules provided by the RTSS can support the creation of intervention protocols, enhance reproducibility of treatments across studies and in the clinical setting, and improve communication of research findings in ways that support research synthesis and clinical decision-making.
Identify at least three ways that application of RTSS principles can improve the design of treatment-related research.
Discuss ways in which RTSS can enhance reporting and synthesis of research findings.
Identify ways that the RTSS framework can be used by clinicians to guide implementation of research findings in clinical practice.
Identify resources that provide guidance on the use of the RTSS.
