Denise A. Ludwig, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, FNAP, ACUE
Dr. Ludwig is a Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, College of Health Professions, at Grand Valley State University (GVSU). Her research interests include interprofessional education and interprofessional practice andragogy, She has over 35 years of experience working in collaborative interprofessional teams. She has extensive experience in application of clinical simulation and alternative clinical processes. Her background includes work within special education administration and health care settings (hospital inpatient and outpatient, skilled nursing facilities, private clinic, rehabilitation hospital). She is active at a national and regional level in interprofessional collaborative practice advocacy, service learning, and development of rigorous and relevant learning experiences focused on interprofessional education for students enrolled in higher education personnel programs for health care and education disciplines.
Her clinical research interests focus on development of effective early intervention coaching models and clinical education pedagogy. Her focus on early intervention service delivery has included authoring a training manual for special education supervisors of early intervention programs. She has presented at numerous national conferences, provided webinars in the discipline of early intervention and interprofessional collaborative practice, and has authored articles focused on interprofessional education.
Dr. Ludwig has been appointed as a member of the steering committee, the curriciulum committee, and is a faculty champion for the Midwest Interprofessional Practice, Education, and Research Center (MIPERC). She has been appointed to the State of Michigan Board of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
Dr. Ludwig is a Distinguished Fellow and Practitioner of the National Academies of Practice and is credentialed in effective higher education instruction by the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE). She is the recipient of Faculty Awards from the Midwest Interprofessional Practice, Education, and Research Center and the Graduate School of GVSU.
