Maria Chang Swartz, Ph.D., M.P.H., R.D., L.D., is an Assistant Professor and a registered dietitian in the Division of Pediatrics at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center with a research focus on health outcomes. Her research expertise includes developing assessment tools to help improve cancer prevention and control by investigating and promoting health behaviors that involve eating, exercise, and knowledge about weight management. She also studies the delivery of preventive care to reduce functional decline among at-risk people. Dr. Swartz earned her master’s degree in public health in the areas of health promotion/health education from The University of Texas School of Public Health, where she also earned her doctorate in the field of behavioral sciences.
