Wei Deng has a bachelor degree in Sports Somatic Science in which she gained research experience in sports movement analysis. She previously joined Dr. Van de Winckel's Brain Body Mind Lab as a volunteer to collect data on body awareness and body image scales in healthy adults at the State Fair. She was trained in Rasch analysis. Currently, Wei Deng is a graduate student in Division of Rehabilitation Science, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Medical School, University of Minnesota, under mentorship of Dr. Van de Winckel, PhD, MSPT, PT. Her research topic as a graduate student encompasses identifying brain mechanisms of cognitive multisensory rehabilitation for neuropathic pain relief in adults with spinal cord injury.
