Marlene Vega is Rehabilitation Neuropsychologist and Assistant Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Director of Rehabilitation Psychology Fellowship Training. She is also the 2019 recipient of the American Psychological Association Division of Rehabilitation Psychology Early Career Practice Award. She received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology with focus on Neuropsychology from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology. She completed an internship at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health and postdoctoral fellowship at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, both in rehabilitation and neuropsychology. Her clinical work has focused on inpatient and post-acute rehabilitation of acquired brain injuries, spinal cord injury and medically complex conditions that affect functioning. She has actively served in leadership roles for several years with the APA Division of Rehabilitation Psychology and within the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine Stroke Interdisciplinary Special Interest Group. Her research interests include cross-cultural factors affecting rehabilitation outcomes, health beliefs and coping after acquired disabilities.
