Qualified as Physiotherapist from Nottingham School of Physiotherapy in 1988. Specialised in field of musculoskeletal medicine and manual therapy since 1990. Honorary physiotherapist to Welsh and UK athletics 1990- 2000. Gained Fellowship of Society of Orthopaedic Medicine (SOM) in 1994 and taught for them and Orthopaedic medicine Seminars nationally and internationally on post-graduate courses. Gained Diploma in Injection Therapy in 1996 becoming one of first physiotherapists in country to be administering peripheral and soft tissue joint injections.
Most recent clinical post was as an Extended Scope Practitioner from 2007-2010 within an NHS musculoskeletal service. Became a full-time Lecturer (Physiotherapy) in 2010, contributing to both under-graduate and post-graduate teaching programs. Invited lecturer on University of Southampton Injection therapy MSc module since 2008. External Examiner Teeside University.
Completed PG Certs Res in 2000, and Doctor of Philosophy in 2012, and PGCHE 2018.
Director for clinical academic careers supporting non-medical health care professionals develop clinical research careers. Supervisor of 1 PhD student to completion, and currently have 4 PhD students. My research interests/expertise are in qualitative group and individual interviews.
