My research interest is to understand spinal cord injury (SCI) and the clinical implications that result from these injuries. Additionally, I seek to develop therapies to improve prognosis after SCI, as well as develop instruments to facilitate a better understanding specific areas important for SCI. My goal is to improve the understanding of the medical consequences after SCI on a systems level in humans. This understanding is needed in order to control them for the clinical benefits of patients affected by neurological conditions. In my studies, I use powered lower-extremity exoskeleton technology to better understand the roles these devices can have in the acute inpatient rehabilitation setting; furthermore, my other focuses have been on survey development. My aim is to determine the role of medical devices and survey instruments in their applicability for functional motor recover and sensitivity/specificity of pertinent outcomes that can assist in collection of important outcomes for clinicians and researchers
