Sozina is an Associate Professor and Research Coordinator at Andrews University. She coordinates and teaches research methods and statistics to entry-level DPT and post professional tDPT and DScPT students. She is a native of Tanzania in East Africa. Sozina did her undergraduate at Sokoine University in 1987, and joined the health field as a Nutritionist at the Provincial Medical Director’s office-PMD Matebeleland North-Zimbabwe in 1992. Sozina graduated with a Master’s in Public health - Research Epidemiology in 2009, and a Doctor of Public Health - Epidemiology in 2013 from Loma Linda University. Dr. Katuli has engaged in international research work in maternal and child nutrition in Ecuador, Philippines and Zimbabwe. At Loma Linda she conducted various research including West Nile virus surveillance, and was also involved in Cardiovascular and Diabetes studies. Her most recent research focus was on breast cancer. Since June 2014 she was engaged in cancer disparity and survivorship studies at Beckman Research Institute, City of Hope National Medical Center in California. She joined Andrews University where she continue with her research agenda on breast cancer, and studies on Physical activity.
