.Dave Murday, PhD, is currently a Research Associate at the Core for Applied Research & Evaluation in the UofSC Arnold School of Public Health. In 2009, he retired as Director of the ASPH Center for Health Services & Policy Research (CARE’s predecessor). CARE’s primary focus areas are evaluation, quality improvement, and implementation research. In 2015, he retired as Director of the Evaluation & Quality Improvement core for the SC Clinical & Translational Research Institute at the Medical University of South Carolina. He has been PI on several prior grants focused on traumatic spinal cord injury and since 2010 has collaborated with Drs. Saunders and Krause on developing the Statewide Database for Spinal Cord Injury. His primary focus on the database project has been to link data from survey participants to utilization data housed at the SC Revenue & Fiscal Affairs office. The collaboration has resulted in three recent peer reviewed publications based on the linked data. Prior to joining USC in 1995, he spent 10 years as Director of Research for the Joint Legislative Health Care Planning & Oversight Committee. The Joint Committee was responsible for monitoring and developing legislative initiatives involving health policy and health financing.
