Associate Nurse Manager
Sumier Overcash MSN, RN, CRRN graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2009 with her BSN and went on to complete her MSN at the University of West Georgia in 2019. She has more than ten years of experience serving persons with spinal cord injury and/or brain injury at Shepherd Center. Sumier has served on many committees and work groups including Nursing Clinical Practice, Stroke, Behavior, Culture of Patient Safety, Wound Prevention, Infection Prevention, Customer Satisfaction, and Fall Prevention and Protective Restraints, all aimed at improving practice. Her Master’s project was Remote Telesitter System versus Continual Visual Observation: Improving the Decision-Making Process; she served as the Project Lead for Improving Patient Safety with Efficient Patient Monitoring Techniques, with the team recently receiving a Patient Safety Award from GHA. Sumier currently serves as the Associate Nurse Manager for the Brain Injury Program at Shepherd Center and has been in that role since 2014.
