Nabiul Hasan, Postdoctoral Associate, in the Department of Neurology, University of Pittsburgh, is involved in glioblastoma research. He is studying the cellular mechanisms of the development of immunosuppressive glioma microenvironment. Currently, Dr. Hasan is focused on studying the role of Na/H exchanger and Na-K-Cl cotransporter in glioma growth, invasion and modulating tumor microenvironment.
During the Ph.D. research, he has studied leukemia biology to provide an alternative therapeutic strategy for the treatment of high-risk/aggressive leukemia. His research findings have shown that hyperactivated mTOR signaling is associated with high-risk leukemia, but non high-risk leukemia exhibits absent/low mTOR signaling activity. Additionally, he investigated the efficacy of mTOR inhibitor alone or in combination with chemotherapy to provide an alternative treatment strategy of high-risk leukemia in a preclinical murine model.
