WVC 91st Annual Conference
Veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and pet parents are inundated with pet nutrition information, some accurate and some not. Just Google “dog nutrition” or “cat nutrition” and you get 13-17,000,000 hits. Add to this, articles and books in print, advice from neighbors, store employees, and TV commercials and you quickly realize the information is overwhelming. We acknowledge that discussing pet nutrition in private practice is not easy. It is akin to discussing religion or politics as people are passionate, with strong beliefs and opinions. Current and common pet nutrition controversies- “the fallacies, facts, and a nutritionist’s opinion” will be presented. Understanding these controversies will enable the practitioner to provide balanced information and sound nutritional recommendations.
