WVC 91st Annual Conference
Senior and geriatric patients often suffer with co-morbidities in addition to advanced dental disease due to years of oral and dental care neglect. Immunosenescence, co-mordities, and pharmaceuticals can result in acute on chronic manifestations of periodontal and endodontic disease. Feline and canine tooth resorption are more prevalent with age and require treatment. Oral tumors and age-related pathology require treatment. Multi-modal anesthesia/analgesia is necessary to treat these patients.
1. Veterinarians will learn the importance in recognizing and treating dental and oral pathology in senior patients.
2. Veterinarians will learn the local and systemic manifestations related sequelae to these chronic and acute on chronic infections.
3. Veterinarians will be presented with case management solutions to assess, diagnose, and treat these senior and geriatric patients.
