This comprehensive laboratory course will discuss the differences in diagnosis and treatment of patellar luxation in small breed and large breed dogs. Participants will learn how to quickly diagnose medial patellar luxation using signalment, orthopedic examination, and radiographic findings. Surgical techniques for patellar luxation correction that will be discussed include trochlear groove deepening techniques, tibial tuberosity transposition, lateral imbrication, medial release, patellar sling suture, trochlear groove prosthesis, and femoral and tibial corrective osteotomy. Participants will perform selected procedures on plastic bone models and cadavers. Lunch is included. Ticket Required. $825. Capacity: 32.
Transportation: Complimentary shuttle service is provided to and from the Oquendo Center for all hands-on labs. The pickup area is located at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center entrance. Buses depart promptly 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of the course.
Dress Code: Please dress comfortably. Scrubs are recommended, additional scrubs are available for use at the Oquendo Center, if needed. Closed-toe shoes are required.
