WVC 91st Annual Conference
Disaster response is typically complex, however infectious diseases present some novel issues. Infectious disease response ranges from containment to eradication and may include containment measures such as quarantine and isolation. The principles on which these decisions are made are based in science and medicine. Containment measures in disaster response are not novel concepts and are, in fact, used fairly routinely by public health officials. Unfortunately, most of the general public is unaware of these measures taken to safe guard the public health. Join me for a discussion of contagious disease response structure, tactical elements, and specific disease examples.
