Monday, October 28
9:30 AM - 10:15 AM
Location: Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, 228-230
CME credit: 0.75

Session Type: Focused Topic

Topic(s): Hematology & Oncology

US immigration patterns have resulted in a greater prevalence of heterozygous and homozygous, quantitative and qualitative hemoglobinopathies (eg, Hb H, Hb E, beta thalassemia intermedia). Concurrent iron deficiency may confuse the diagnosis. Attendees will learn how to recognize hemoglobinopathies, when to provide reassurance, and when to refer to a hematologist.
