This session will provide background on the growing prevalence of pediatric hypertension as well as traditional and emerging causes. Faculty will discuss ambulatory blood pressure monitoring; where and how the new normative data for children were derived; and how to use the results in the diagnosis and management of hypertension. Faculty also will discuss medications approved for children, mechanisms of action, adverse effects, and how to make a rational choice.
