  2. Case description:
    This case follows an 8 month old FS Labrador who presented with a spay incision dehiscence due to self-mutilation. It includes emergency stabilization, a blood transfusion, transfer to surgery, and post op care.

  3. Lung Lobe Torsion in a Pug by Priscilla Paradise, RVT

  4. Case description:
    "Daisy", an 8yr FS pug that presented to VRSP for dyspnea and lethargy. After performing diagnostics/physical exam, it was determined that "Daisy" was suffering from a cranial lung lobe torsion and emergent surgery was required. With a permanent tracheal stoma due to severe brachycephalic airway syndrome, "Daisy" presented as a non-traditional case and anesthetic challenges soon followed.

Emergency and Critical Care Technician

Cherie’ has been at the Animal Emergency and Referral Center of Minnesota near the Twin Cities since her Technician internship in 2012. She became a CVT in March of 2013. She has followed interests in many specialties including Internal Medicine, Surgery and Anesthesia, but has found her true passion in the Emergency and Critical Care Department. Her professional interests include emergency stabilization, anesthesia, and anything involving a Labrador or Golden Retriever! Outside of work, Cherie’ volunteers weekly at a Children’s Museum and enjoys spending time with her sister and her niece. She also just loves hanging out around a fire or working on the garden with her husband, Alex, at their country home. Cherie’ and Alex have two dogs (Charley, and Elly, one of our blood donors) and seven backyard chickens.

Priscilla Paradise

Priscilla graduated from Purdue University's Veterinary Technology Program with a Bachelor's Degree in 2009 with a strong interest in emergency/critical care and anesthesia. She pursued her first passion (emergency/critical care) for 4 years in Houston, TX before deciding to change the pace. She started working at the Veterinary Referral Surgical Practice (VRSP) in Marietta, GA as an anesthesia veterinary technologist in 2013. In 2015, she decided to start her journey in VTS (Anesthesia/Analgesia) and recently turned in her application for the 2018 exam.
