International Cat Care

Andrew graduated from the Royal Veterinary College (University of London) in 1983. After four years in general practice joined the staff of the University of Bristol as an intern/resident in feline medicine (funded by International Cat Care – a charity dedicated to promoting feline health and welfare). From 1990 to 1993, he undertook research which led to the successful completion of a PhD and in 1993 was appointed as a lecturer in Feline Medicine at the University of Bristol (also funded by International Cat Care). In 1999, he was promoted to senior lecturer and then in 2000 he moved to the Animal Health Trust to take up a position as Head of their Feline Unit, and subsequently Head of the Division of Small Animal Studies. In 2012, Andrew was appointed as the Veterinary Director of International Cat Care and its veterinary division the International Society of Feline Medicine. He has published widely in the field of feline medicine and is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. He is the founding editor and current co-editor of the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery – the official journal of both the International Society for Feline Medicine (ISFM) and the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP).
