This lab is intended to accelerate the veterinary technician's skills in dentistry to a professional standard. Working towards efficient and diagnostic full mouth dental radiographs we will obtain these images on both the cat and dog. Next we will learn how to perform an occlusal evaluation, perform a comprehensive oral exam and chart all pathology found. Technique will be demonstrated and you will practice the most commonly used regional dental anesthetic blocks in both species. 4 CE Hours. Purchase required. Capacity 30. Price: $350.

Transportation: Complimentary shuttle service is provided to and from the Oquendo Center for all hands-on labs. The pickup area is located at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center entrance. Buses depart promptly 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of the course.

Dress Code: Please dress comfortably. Scrubs are recommended, additional scrubs are available for use at the Oquendo Center, if needed. Closed-toe shoes are required.

Benita is a veterinary technician specialist (VTS) in dentistry since 2008 and has been in general practice since 1988. She travels to various hospitals in the United States and Canada, teaching veterinarians and technicians about dentistry and its various aspects. With lots of passion behind it, Benita loves teaching and educating others on how to help the animals with their oral health. Benita has two grown daughters and married her husband, Mark, in 2014. In her spare time, Benita loves to exercise, especially running. She and her husband have two cats at home.

Mary Berg, BS, LATG, RVT, VTS (Dentistry) is currently the president of Beyond the Crown Veterinary Education, Mary has over 23 years of experience including research, private practice, veterinary technician education and consulting with practices by teaching the staff proper techniques and the value of veterinary dentistry. Mary continues to work on research, specializing in products aimed at improving oral health of companion animals. She is actively involved in the AVDT, NAVTA and the KVTA. She is the current President of NAVTA. Mary has authored or co-authored over 50 publications including publications in the Journal of Dental Research, Journal of Veterinary Dentistry, the Veterinary Technician Journal DVM 360 and the NAVTA journal and has been a speaker and wet lab instructor at numerous state and national conferences.
