General Veterinary Technician Session: This lecture will give a brief review of hepatic function, and how the process of diagnosing liver shunts relates to the clinical pathology technician. This presentation will focus on the testing, diagnosis, and follow-up care of liver shunt patients.

Susan Kolkka, AAS, LVT, VTS, (Clinical Pathology), Manager, Oradell Animal Hospital, Paramus, New Jersey.
Susan graduated from the State University of New York at Delhi in 1988 with a degree in Veterinary Technology. She has worked for the Oradell Animal Hospital in New Jersey for over 25 years, and has held various positions within the company including team leader, lab supervisor, blood bank coordinator, and clinic manager. She won first place in the NAVTA sponsored case report contest at NAVC in 2015. She has lectured at several conferences including NAVC and AAHA. Susan is a charter member of the Academy of Veterinary Clinical Pathology Technicians (AVCPT).
