If you are like most veterinarians, your practice is a major part of your retirement plan. Therefore, it is critical to understand what your practice is worth, who the potential buyers are, and if there is a "best" time to sell. This session will discuss these topics and more to help you better prepare for one of the most important transactions of your life.

Michael D. Hargrove

Dr. Hargrove has been a small animal practitioner since 1991 and currently owns a seven-doctor small animal practice in Duluth, Minnesota that has been AAHA certified for 38 years. In addition to his clinical and ownership duties, he has worked as a management consultant, specializing in business valuation, since 2001. He is a charter member of VetPartners and has been active on the Valuation Council of that organization for the past ten years. Dr. Hargrove is also a shareholder in an emergency practice that has seven locations throughout the state of Minnesota. He has been on the board of governors of that organization for the past eight years, serving as President/CEO from 2012-2016. Dr. Hargrove is a three-time graduate of Colorado State University, including a DVM degree in 1991 and an MBA degree in 2001. He has presented locally and nationally on a wide variety of veterinary management topics.

Leslie A. Mamalis

Leslie is Summit's owner and Senior Consultant. Leslie has been a key part of Summit since 2006, providing practice valuations, profitability assessments, feasibility analyses, and financial consulting to veterinary specialists and general practices alike. Leslie has an MBA and an MS in Information Technology, and became a Certified Valuation Analyst in 2013. She worked for the American Animal Hospital Association for seven years, beginning with management education seminars and then becoming involved with the Accreditation program. Leslie is a frequent speaker and author on practice management, profitability and budgeting topics. She is also a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor with extensive experience helping veterinarians and managers understand financial reports so they can use that information to increase practice profitability and value. A native of Wyoming, Leslie grew up surrounded by horses, cattle, and wide open spaces. When she's not working, Leslie enjoys gardening, hiking, bird feeding, wildlife watching, and yoga.
