Systemic antibiotics are commonly used for the treatment of superficial bacterial folliculitis. Due to the emergence of multiresistant bacteria, optimal management of this disease becomes a must. This lecture will use a case based approach to review diagnostic and various treatment options for superficial bacterial folliculitis.

Dr. Julio Lopez Is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and practices at Studio City Animal Hospital in Los Angeles, California. He received his DVM degree from Cornell University and completed his rotating internship and small animal internal medicine residency at California Animal Hospital Veterinary Specialty Group in Los Angeles. Dr. Lopez has a special interest in diseases of the urinary tract and published an article on a novel procedure for obtaining ultrasound-guided urinary bladder biopsies through a urinary catheter. He has authored chapters for Cote's Clinical Veterinary Advisor and Ettinger & Feldman's Textbook of Veterinary Internal Medicine and has lectured nationally and internationally.
