What got you here won’t get you there. The veterinary world is changing and your practice needs to change to keep up with the competition that is both from within and outside the profession. Without compromising what you do best, what services or products can you add to your mix? Will these services require new doctors; new staff; new equipment? Or will they simply require a different standard of care? New profit centers can arise from new ideas or just doing a better job of what you are already doing. And sometimes, it is just letting your clients know that you actually CAN do something that they never new you did, e.g. dental radiography.

After earning his DVM degree from the University of Illinois, Dr. Weinstein worked as an associate for three years, then opened his own practice. While in practice, he attended the University of Redlands where he received an MBA to further his business acumen. Through PAW Consulting, Dr. Weinstein provides small business and corporate consultation. Concurrently, he is the Executive Director of the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association. He has a wealth of veterinary background, serving in executive functions in a number of industry organizations and businesses. He puts that knowledge to work for others, writing, and speaking on practice management topics to improve the veterinary profession. Peter collaborated with Michael Gerber on "The E Myth Veterinarian- Why Most Veterinary Practices Don't Work and What to Do About It".
