Jade Velasquez, LVT has been in the field for 15 years. In 2007, she became a licensed veterinary technician after sitting for the VTNE. Most of her career she worked in emergency facilities, but she settled into busy day practices after having her son. She currently works at a small animal general practice in Washington State. She loves critical care, dentistry and her passion truly lies in team building and leadership. Creating and building on a cohesive, supportive and positive team is her focus. In 2014, she started a Facebook group Veterinary Support Staff Unleashed to create a support network for support staff and students of veterinary technology. That group has grown to over 7,000 members. In the group, the mission has been to discuss cases and the emotional aspect of veterinary medicine, education and providing emotional support for the members. She is President of WSAVT and is a member of the NAVTA PR and Membership committees. She also writes regularly as a guest author for Dr.AndyRoark.com, as well as writing for the NAVTA journal. In her "off time" she enjoys reading, music, horror movies and spending time with her family and her two stubborn Basenji’s.
