  1. The Wind Beneath My Broken Wing by Nicole Sinclair, LVT

  2. Case description:
    "The Wind Beneath My Broken Wing" - The anesthesia case of Lady Yaya, a 7 month Blue and Gold Macaw, that presented with a right wing injury. Her anesthetic procedure presented many unique opportunities such a jugular catheter, brachial plexus block, arterial catheter, mechanical ventilation and much more.

  3. An Unexpected Outcome to Hepatic Lipidosis by Alexandria Timpson, RVTg, B.S.

  4. Case description:
    This case report is on an eleven year old, female spayed, domestic short hair cat that presented for prolonged anorexia resulting in hepatic lipidosis. The report demonstrates the important role a veterinary technician can play in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and promptly initiating resuscitative efforts when needed.

Nicole Sinclair

Nicole Sinclair is a 2011 graduate of North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND with a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology with a Large Animal Technology minor. After graduating, she worked at the Cat Care Clinic, a feline specialty practice in Madison, WI. In 2013, she joined the University of Wisconsin Veterinary Care, where she is currently employed as a Senior Veterinary Anesthesia Technician in the Anesthesia and Pain Management Department.

Alexandria Timpson

Alex a Registered Veterinary Technologist and earned her license in August of 2016. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Animal Health Science and a Minor in Chemistry, and is currently working on a Masters of Science. She works at a single doctor advanced general practice, Huntington Veterinary Hospital in Monrovia, CA and does relief work at an emergency and specialty hospital, VCA West Coast Specialty and Emergency Hospital in Fountain Valley, CA.
