This session will reflect how the most important nutrient is water and how water quality affects health and performance. Case reports with economic data will be shown to the viewer with health and performance in weaning weights the main focus on calves nursing cows with improved water quality investments.

"Dr. Bob Sager presently is owner of Medicine Creek Bovine Health Solutions and Consulting, which consults with beef cattle producers and formulates specific custom mineral and vitamin programs for producers. Bob is also an Assistant Professor with Montana State Extension, Montana State University-Bozeman. A Diplomate, American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in Beef Cattle, Dr. Sager completed his PhD in Animal Nutrition in 2014.

Dr. Bob (Beef) grew up on a registered Hereford ranch near Manhattan, Montana and has been a rancher all his life. He presently practices and ranches near Wilsall, Montana.

He obtained his formal education with a BS in Animal Science at Montana State University, a DVM from Colorado State University in 1974 and practiced for thirty-six years while, owning two practices in south central Montana. When he became eligible for Social Security at age 62 he used his SS checks to go back to graduate school while working as a beef cattle veterinarian. Bob’s interest and graduate research was with micro-minerals affecting the immune system of beef cattle.

He finished his PhD at Montana State University and while teaching beef production classes a recruiting firm called from Moscow, Russia. The past two years he has been employed as a Senior Veterinarian with Miratorg Holdings near Bryansk,, Russia supervising 68 Russian veterinarians and responsible for the health and biosecurity of over 437,000 beef cattle that are on 33 cow-calf farms, 14 yearling or stocker operations, and two 50,000 + head feedlots.. He considers his life and career very blessed and has always been proud and fortunate to be a veterinarian mentored by some of the very best in the profession. He prefers to be called Bob or Beef to his colleges.
