Jan Bellows

Dr. Bellows received his undergraduate training at the University of Florida and Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University in 1975. After completing a small animal internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York City, he returned to south Florida where he still practices companion animal medicine , surgery and dentistry at ALL PETS DENTAL, in Weston Florida.

He is certified by the Board of Veterinary Practitioners (canine and feline) since 1986 and by the College of Veterinary Dentistry since 1990. He is the past president of the American Veterinary Dental College, the Veterinary Dental Forum, and the Foundation for Veterinary Dentistry.

Dr. Bellows has authored three dental texts- The Practice of Veterinary Dentistry …. A team effort (1999), Small Animal Dental Equipment, Materials, and Techniques (2005) and Feline Dentistry ( 2010). He is a frequent contributor the veterinary dental literature and a charter consultant of Veterinary Information Network’s (VIN) dental board since 1993. He was also chosen as one of the dental experts to formulate AAHA’s Small Animal Dental Guidelines published in 2005 and updated in 2013.

Mary Berg, BS, LATG, RVT, VTS (Dentistry) is currently the president of Beyond the Crown Veterinary Education, Mary has over 23 years of experience including research, private practice, veterinary technician education and consulting with practices by teaching the staff proper techniques and the value of veterinary dentistry. Mary continues to work on research, specializing in products aimed at improving oral health of companion animals. She is actively involved in the AVDT, NAVTA and the KVTA. She is the current President of NAVTA. Mary has authored or co-authored over 50 publications including publications in the Journal of Dental Research, Journal of Veterinary Dentistry, the Veterinary Technician Journal DVM 360 and the NAVTA journal and has been a speaker and wet lab instructor at numerous state and national conferences.

Gary Goldstein

Dr. Gary Goldstein is Chief Medical Officer a Lakefield Veterinary Group. Prior to joining Lakefield, Gary served on the faculty at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine as Professor and Section Chief of the Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery service. He also acted as Associate Medical Director of the Veterinary Medical Center, where he was responsible for medical operations, strategic planning, and implementation of medical standards. He implemented leading-edge didactic and clinical programs that fostered innovation, teamwork, and continuing education programs achieved research distinction, and educated the next generation of veterinarians. During his tenure, he was voted outstanding faculty of the year, received the Dr. Peter Emily AVDC Service Award for contributions to the field of veterinary dentistry, and was voted one of the Top 15 Dental Professors in the Country. He has also served as president and owner of the Texas Veterinary Dental Clinic and Medical Director of the Veterinary Emergency Referral Group Inc. in Houston, Texas. He graduated from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine. He is a Charter Fellow of the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry and is Board Certified in Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery. He was on the faculty at the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine from 2002 to 2014, was on the board of directors of the American Veterinary Dental College as recording secretary from 2003 to 2014, and is a past president of the American Veterinary Dental Society.

Brook Niemiec

Dr. Brook Niemiec is a board certified veterinary dentist by both the American and European Veterinary Dental Colleges as well as a Fellow in the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry. He is chief of staff of Southern California Veterinary Dental Specialties, with offices in San Diego, Irvine, Ontario, Santa Barbara, Fresno, and Murrieta, California, as well as Las Vegas, Nevada and New Orleans LA.. In addition, Dr. Niemiec is a founder of, a dental radiology telemedicine site. He has published numerous articles as well as lectured extensively at the local, state, national, and international levels. He also has written numerous veterinary dental specific textbooks including titles on oral pathology, extractions, periodontology, radiology,. orthodontics, endodontics and feline dentistry. He also coordinates the San Diego Veterinary Dental Training Center. Dr. Niemiec is a 1994 graduate of the University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine.

Christopher J. Snyder

Section Head, Dentistry and Oral Surgery

Christopher Snyder is a Diplomat of the American Veterinary Dental College and Clinical Associate Professor and Section Head of the Dentistry and Oral Surgery Service at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating veterinary school at The Ohio State University and completing an internship in western New York, he joined the residency training program in veterinary dentistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2005. Following residency training, Dr. Snyder became boarded in the American Veterinary Dental College and became faculty at UW. He has authored journal articles, textbook chapters and has lectured nationally and internationally. He prides himself on the dental education he provides to students at the University of Wisconsin and the residents he has successfully mentored in the specialty. Dr. Snyder’s academic interests include: maxillofacial trauma and reconstruction, oral surgery, creating innovating techniques in veterinary dental education and improving techniques for regional anesthesia.
