F2139 Promoting ‘Physical Literacy’ to Combat Physical Inactivity

Sunday, November 4
5:00 PM - 5:45 PM
Location: W311EF, Orange County Convention Center

Topic(s): Sports Medicine

After reviewing physical activity guidelines for children and adolescents, the concept of physical literacy (the ability to move with competence and confidence in a variety of physical activities) will be discussed. Faculty will present research showing that larger “movement vocabulary” leads to enhanced social, emotional, and physical well-being. Finally, the practical aspects of putting this information into practice will be discussed with the goal of addressing movement skills in early childhood so children have skills to succeed in life.
