This session will review the growing prevalence of pediatric hypertension, including traditional and emerging causes. Faculty will discuss ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and how it is performed; how the normative data for children were derived; and how to use the results in the diagnosis and management of hypertension. Faculty also will review blood pressure medications approved for use in children, mechanisms of action, adverse effects of different medication classes, and how to make a rational choice.
